Just wanted to give you a little update. I have obviously lacked on this blog. I feel disappointed it’s gone as long as it has, and sadden I haven’t kept up. I have been brainstorming a little and want to get back in crafting blogging. During winter I haven’t knitted as much as I planned..meaning…barely at all. I have numerous Works In Progress right now. Two of them being very important to me since family & pretty much family are having babies! yay!

So I wanted to let you all know…whoever..you are.. That I will be continuing on with this blog and create a lovely update post as well. While you wait for that, please hop over to Ashley’s blog: http://littlewillowtree.wordpress.com. Also, don’t forget to check out her awesome etsy: Little Willow Tree.

I will be hoping to work on my Baby Etsy Shop I’ve been dreaming of doing for a while as well. So keep your eye out for those updates!

October already!?

Posted by: sewbastediwannapurl on: October 6, 2011

Wow time flies when you’re working retail! Yes I am alive, just quite busy lately with work and life. I apologize for being so MIA, and yes, I feel awful. This blog has been on my mind about everyday, and everyday I haven’t had much new things to post/show/share, and this saddens me. Some is for personal reasons, and some is really just lack of time. I am really going to work more on this! I’m hoping this chilly weather will inspire me more to knit up some new designs. For the first time I’m looking into making some lovely cowls for my etsy store.

So unfortunately I don’t have much to tell you except my newest listing on my etsy! I have the Slouchy Beanie with a Twist:

Don’t you love spontaeous photo opts. I’m hoping to get some  lovelier pictures soon!

Oh hello little mini mock cables! How are you? I love these guys, gives a little umph to the brim. The best part? They are actually alternating cables. Had to give myself bit of a challange!

This beanie is quite warm even though it’s not very thick. It’s a fun single strand knitted cap with double ribs for extra stretch. I’m pretty stoked on this beanie, and can’t wait to make a few more! Along with this guy I have a few other beanies for the family if you wanna check it out! So that’s my little update today, and hope to do a couple more tutorials, and of course I haven’t forgotten the last part of Gauge. I still have to teach y’all how to create a pattern!

Happy Fall!

|Shop Review: Knit Fit|

Posted by: sewbastediwannapurl on: September 21, 2011

Lately I have been running on overdrive and having a real hard time with life in general so I decided that Bry & I were going to play hookie one day with my sister-in-law and nephew and head to Solvang. After we walked around for a bit we headed to grab some lunch. We’re sitting there and across the street I see a store called ‘Knit Fit’ and immediately decide we need to go over – I am so glad we did!

I walk into the shop and am faced with a wall of knits. Amazing ones. And darling little knit projects. And imported WOOL FELT PIECES! Around the corner is bolt after bolt of some of the most fun, delicate, and awesome fabric I have ever seen; and I work in a fabric store! There are books galore with knitting patterns, sewing patters, knit and sew how-tos, projects, and more. Cute little finished pieces, cute little everythings. As Samantha and I wander a bit more the kiddos are running up to us asking if they could finger paint. After a reassuring nod from the very helpful store owner, they run off in excitement as she follows them. After browsing a bit more, we decide to head over to see what the kids were up to and the sweet lady set up a table with washable finger paints and a big piece of butchers paper and theyre stenciling and painting. Oh, but this is an every day thing as we had just entered the KIDS CRAFT SECTION of the store with tons of amazing projects for kids and families to do – even eco-friendly ones. {Which I am soooo crazy about!} After grabbing some things here and there and the kiddos getting up to wash their hands, I asked if she had classes. She does. A whole flier full of em. Flier and business card in hand, kiddos artwork drying on her table, and purchases made, we headed out to a few more shops before coming back for the kids painting. Walking in for a second time was still amazing shock for me as the shop is just so artfully maintained and carefully thought out. After purchasing little felt leaves for my knit projects, a pair of imported, handmade maryjanes for Bry, and the kiddos creating their very own masterpiece, I walked out craving more. Plus the owner {ack, I forget her name! I’m horrible with names} was just sweet, helpful, awesome, caring, and passionate about the shop – what more could you ask for? Knit Fit gets two ups from me and I can’t wait to get back there.

Finished Friday

Posted by: sewbastediwannapurl on: August 26, 2011

No freebie Friday this week, but I thought I’d post what I recently finished and posted onto my Etsy shop!

This is a fun ribbed slouchy beanie I knitted up a couple weeks ago. It was a freestyle knit, and have to say I like it quite a bit. The color together work off eachother very well making a slight red tweed effect.

This was knitted with 3 strands of yarn held together all the way.  What I also like about this hat is it can be worn slouchy, or you can fold up the brim to make it shorter and give your ears that extra warmth!

I am considering doing custom knit beanies of this version, just have to contact me for more information! With this new knit hat, and more accessories to come,  I currently have a sale for our blog readers! Simply put SBIWP10 into the coupon code box, and you will receive 10% off your purchase. This is valid for all the items in my etsy shop right now!

Hope you enjoyed my latest creation! Happy Knitting!

Tutorial Tuesday: Mini Veil

Posted by: sewbastediwannapurl on: August 23, 2011

Onto wedding tutorial #2!

This week I have for you my mini veil I wore to my wedding:

I got tons of compliments on my veil, which I greatly appreciated since I did make it myself! It’s actually extremely easy to make. Today I bring you a video tutorial for this easy peasy head decor!

Sadly when I recorded this, I didn’t realize til after that the audio didn’t record. So I just captioned all the directions for you. Plus you get to enjoy the song we used for our First Dance at the reception (Sam Hart – Mario Cart Love Song.)

For this tutorial you need:

  • Veil material – I used a sheer curtain fabric (that I bought from Beverly’s), you can used tulle, birdcage, lace, or another sheer material. For the lace/curtain panels you want to make sure the free end (on the bottom of the veil that isn’t glued) has a finished end so it won’t unravel. The sides didn’t do much, so I left them unhemmed.
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hair Comb - You can find these at Wal-mart, or Target. Most placed that have hair accessories.
  • Ribbon

by Richard Fusillo

Yep! That’s all you need. Also, it really doesn’t take that long to make. For other tips:

-You may have to trim the square of fabric down to fit your face, and poof right on the comb.

- Don’t go too crazy with the glue, you don’t need too much.

- BEWARE OF THE HOT GLUE! I totally burnt myself a couple times with the stupid thing. ha.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know! Hope this is helpful!

Happy Crafting!
